Are you ready for new life in 2018?

Are you ready for a new life in 2018? It’s that time of the year, a fresh start, a new beginning. We make goals and resolutions and we try to start brand new. But can we? Can we take all of the years and the past and start over on January 1st of each new year? Do we really want to? I admit, I have times that I want to. There are times that if I could start brand new on January 1st each year I would. I also know that starting fresh would mean wiping out all that is previous, and there are too many good things in life to wipe them all away. So again, Can we start over?

New life

I believe that we can start over without wiping out the past.  We can have a new life without letting go of everything in the old life.  In 2 Corinthians 5:17 says,

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, and behold all things have becom

We can have new life!   We can have the things in life that are good and still get a fresh start.  Is it really that easy?  Well, I’d say yes and no.  Yes it is easy to begin a new life in Christ.  Accept Him as your Lord and Savior and you will begin a new life in Christ.  If you don’t know how to do that I will address that now.

Romans 3:23 tells us,

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

We all are all sinners and none of us are perfect.  We have all fallen short in one way or the other and we all need a Savior.  It may seem life a strange concept, especially if you have never been in church or known God before, but it’s really not a hard concept, and the requirement for salvation is simple.

How do I get new Life?

Romans 10:13 says,

Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

People seem to make this harder than it really is.  A simple prayer is all it takes to call on the Lord. Here is an example of a prayer that you can say to call upon the Lord:

Dear Lord,

I know that I’m a sinner and I know that I need a Savior.  Please forgive me of my sins and come into my life and give me new life in You,

Amen.

The No

The “no” is simply this, we get in our own way and sometimes try and out think God.  We can’t do that!  He is God.  He created man in His image, and nothing we can say or do can out think Him.  We take our old life, that we’ve already asked God to forgive us for, and we let it seep into our new life. Instead of allowing “old things” to pass away, we hold on to them.  TIGHT!!!!  I do it.  I let my feelings of self doubt, worthlessness, and inadequacy seep into my new life in Christ. How do we stop this? How do we let our old life go, and our new life take over?  Well, for all my years as a Christian, here is what I’ve learned…

Just do it!

Now I know that’s a Nike slogan, but it’s also how we let go of the old and embrace the new life.  When I asked what your 2018 was going to look like, what was your answer?  What do you want to see happen in 2018?  How does it happen?  We Just Let GOD do it!

I’m not saying not to have goals, not to have resolutions.  I’m not saying just sit back and let it happen.  Get out there, and work towards your goals, and work at keeping your resolutions, but don’t hold on to 2017.  It may have been a good year, heck, it may have been a great year, but it’s done and if 2017 was not a good year, if it really was terrible, then good news, IT’S DONE!!!!

Let’s start creating a new life in Christ, and making 2018 a great year!  Stick around with me and let’s go on this journey together!
