Play by Sephora

This month Play by Sephora is getting us ready to be Partygoers!  It’s a great month to party so why not do it in style?  If you don’t know, Play by Sephora is a monthly subscription box by Sephora.  Each month you receive 4-6 deluxe samples of various products from skincare, perfume, makeup and hair products.  Each box also includes a card to describe all the samples, and a card to take to the store to receive an additional 50 beauty points when you purchase in the store.  That’s a nice little perk, because the more beauty points you earn , the better reward you can spend your points for.  All of this for $10.00 a month.  It’s a nice treat each month and one of the boxes I do enjoy.  Now let me say first off that the Sephora brand itself is not cruelty free.  Sephora sells in China and China requires animal testing on cosmetic products that are sold in their country.  Usually, I do not use the Sephora brand products that are included in the box.  It’s just a personal preference of mine.  I still chose to purchase the box because it does have other products in it that are cruelty free, and I always like trying out new products.

Once you lift the intro card you get to the good stuff!  Sephora always packages their samples in a pretty bag that is different each month.  This month the bag goes with the theme to get you ready for the party!

Inside the bag this month was Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara, Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer, Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo, Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, Sephora Collection Cream LIp Stain in Always Red, and Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon.   Wow, what a great bag!  The Bobbi Brown Mascara, Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and the Makeup Forever Primer are certainly keeps that will be enjoyed.  I love Urban Decay Setting Spray.  My daughter likes to call it Hairspray for your face, and she has the right idea, but it’s so much more.  Setting spray helps keep your makeup flawless and keeps it from looking caked on.  Mascara and primer, well can you really have too many? I don’t think so!  The Sephora lipstick will go to my giveaway box because of the cruelty free issue, and red is really not a great color for me.  I love red lips, but not on me!  I have used the Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo, and it’s not a favorite.  It sprays on white and has a perfume scent.  The directions say to spray and rub vigorously.  Well, I did that and the white residue still showed in my hair.  It gave my hair a grayish tint, and ya know I don’t need that tint any time soon!

This subscription box is a good value to me.  The deluxe samples are always fun and I use most of the products, so this is one that I will continue to subscribe to.
